John Bening has been selling new and used cars since 1987, when he founded Bening Motor Company. This independent pre-owned automotive dealership, John Bening’s first, quickly attracted a clientele interested in an inventory more varied than the lot could provide. That’s when John Bening formed Bening Automotive Group and set out on his quest to acquire more dealerships to give his clients and customers what they want and need from a new and pre-owned car selection.
Since 1987, John Bening has owned and operated a great number of dealerships in southeast Missouri, the region he calls home. Operating as many as seven dealerships at once, John Bening has reduced the number of dealerships he owns to four in recent years via a combination of astute business skills and a desire to work more closely with his staff and customers at all of his dealerships.
Today, John Bening owns four dealerships. Bening Motor Company is still in business in Jackson, MO, and remains the flagship, independent dealership of John Bening’s modest empire. In 2002, John Bening acquired the Ford franchise in Fredericktown, MO, and renamed it Bening Ford. The following year, John Bening bought the Mazda franchise in Cape Girardeau and reopened it as - you guessed it - Bening Mazda. In 2006, John Bening opened up a second Ford franchise - Bening Ford of Perryville.
In his 25 years of experience, John Bening has developed a keen sense of business as well as a love of and talent for sales.
